Sadie 12/2/96 to 4/16/14

16 April 2014 - 11:06 AM

We lost our sweet little Sadie today.  She never quite recovered from a horrible bout of Pancreatitis last fall.

Here are a couple of pictures from her younger days.

We adopted her on 5/4/2003 and she almost made it to her 11th Gotcha Day.

Percy Puss 4-27-95 to 8-6-13 RIP

We lost Percy this Tuesday. Some of you remember when we lost his littermate Boris 16 months ago. Percy was 18 years old and I know that is a long life for a kitty but it wasn't long enough for me. I adopted Percy from the animal shelter along with Boris. They were probably only 5 weeks old - if that. I was only going to get Boris but when I went to the shelter, they went into the isolation unit to get him. I was on the Board of Directors and knew that meant they weren't going out on the adoption floor. I asked and the rest of the litter was due for euthanasia the next day. It broke my heart but we already had 5 cats and I couldn't take them all so I said I would take the 2 grey guys. I always thought of Percy as my Bonus Baby and he paid me back every day of his life. I have never been closer to a cat and I have loved them all but Percy was special. He would ride around on my left shoulder. When I was outside gardening, he would sit in the window and meow at me. Whenever a new cat or dog came into the house, Percy was right next to me. He was never aggressive but he would plant himself between me and the newcomer. He was so sweet and ended up being everyones friend. He was diagnosed with lymphoma last August. It finally got too much for his little body to fight anymore. He died cradled in my arms. Alex was there patting his head. My vet is so wonderful and knew how special Percy was to me. Percy never purred after Boris died so I know they are curled up together with Mama Meg purring and grooming like crazy. She was a year older than the boys and became their substitute mother.
I miss you little guy. RIP Percy Puss, precipitous Puss, Purr Puss and my littie old man.

The first picture is on Patti's first day in our house. As you can see, Percy was making sure she didn't take me over.
The next picture is from earlier this year - Mariah, Percy and Sadie in a sunbeam.
