Oh Deb, my heart is with you today especially. I have previously read Tara's story and know how special she is. They leave holes in our hearts that never go away. What a lovely tribute to Tara that you have a necklace with her ashes laying over your heart.
When I saw your post, I teared up and went and kissed my guys Vinnie and Belle.
May Riley and Allie and your IG Whispers family give your heart comfort today and always.

Thinking of you and Tara today.
I too have a necklace with Katie's ashes in it and I have to tell you a story that I can almost laugh about now.
My first week wearing my necklace I was with my youngest who is in the 4H and we had just finished mucking out the male goats pen. Kathleen saw that the heart was gone from the chain, it had unscrewed-crying between thinking it was gone or having to search through the manure pile and thinking Katie is still causing trouble after she is gone! We ran back in the pen, I happened to look down and there it was at the bottom of the water bucket. Thank goodness for some reason the ashes were still inside. Katie,Katie always a brat.

I am a firm believer that these little ones are special presents from heaven, sent down by the heavenly hosts above.
Hugs to you Deb - and I will give Gili a special hug and kiss in memory of your sweet sweet Tara. May she have lots of angel laps to always snuggle in

Deb, I sure do understand how you felt.....
My Mini Schnauzer died 3 years back (Kiki was with me for 8 yrs) and I still remembered, I cried for 3 months - I felt like the whole world had collapsed on me. Everyday, I will buy flowers to her grave behind my apartment. She had left many memories in my mind, and I tried very hard not to see her photo, then I wont felt so sad....

I share this post sometimes with those who have just recently lost a dog, and though I know that is not the case with you, it is still hard even years later. I thought you might appreciate this:
I've lost a friend I didn't know,
The message came today,
Propelled through wires
at speed of light,
From near or far away.
A noble friend, of ancient blood,
A tiny mighty guard,
A loving comfort, hero, friend,
A loss that would hit us hard.
Computer networks span the globe
And contact now is found
With folks that we may never see
But feel with touch profound.
The dots of light on screen of glass
Shape words of joy or pain,
We teach and learn and share our lives
And blessings deep we gain.
So now I sit with sniffling nose,
A tear runs down my face,
I share a loss and try to find
Pure words of peace and grace.
A dog has died, but more than that,
A precious life has passed.
We take them in, they bless our lives,
Then leave us much too fast.
God grant us peace and mem'ries long,
Our short-lived friends to keep,
In stories, images, and thoughts,
To calm us as we weep.
Now, lightning's brother, speed my words,
Through fibers, disks, and such.
May cold computer magic turn
To caring, human touch.
Rest in peace,
Sweet, gentle, brave Tara.
I used to have a life, but my dogs ate it!

You really hit the nail on the head, Sarah. I can't help but think that Tara should still be here with me today. She'd only be 9.5 years old. She had so much love to give.
