One year ago today we made the decision to end Maggie's suffering and helped her cross the Rainbow Bridge.

It's been a very rough year for me, Maggie took with her a piece of my heart and it hasn't healed yet.

It's hard seeing how depressed Lance still is, he misses his sissy so much. He is having a hard time being at home during the day by himself. That in itself hurts my heart.

I know she is still watching out for us, letting us know she is ok. She lets us know she visits by opening doors just enough for a skinny pupper to squeeze through like she always did and she has twice left us a present to let us know she's still around.

A month after she crossed I packed up all her clothes, collars and accessories and put them in a container. She especially loved wearing her neck flowers:

In March of this year I was in our bathroom, looked down at the rug in front of the sink and found one of the sequens from her neck flowers just sitting there on top of the rug. Yes, I stood there crying while holding onto the sequen. And just this past weekend while in my sewing room, sitting plain as day next to my sewing machine I found another sequen, which I knew wasn't there just the weekend before when I was in there.

Miss you Maggie Moo cupidgirl.gif

Machelle,it is so hard to read your post. My heart is aching to know that you are still agonized. I love all her pictures. She is such beautiful girl... I may not heal your pain but I feel for you as an IGW family.

  • Interests:My main interest is loving and caring for my 2 IG girls, Allie and Riley, as well as my cat, Sabrina. I adore all animals, but I have a passion for IGs. This passion began with my first IG, Tara, who is waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge. I love anything that involves IGs; spending time with Allie and Riley, attending East Coast IG Rescue events, SHOPPING for Allie's and Riley's wardrobes, and of course, communicating with other IG Whispers members. Aside from IGs, my interests include reading a variety of genres and being with friends and family, especially my 13 year old niece, Ella. Professionally, I am a reading specialist for first and second grades. Although I enjoy teaching, the best thing about my job is the long summer vacation, during which I am free to spend endless hours with Allie and Riley.

Machelle, it just doesn't get any easier, does it? I know Maggie is watching out for you and especially for Lance. Those little reminders of our lost IGs are so heart wrenching because they bring the loss back all over again. I can't believe it has been a year. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Maggie.
Regards from Deb, Allie (6/1/07), and Riley (2/20/09)

I was going to say the same thing as Deb....it never gets any easier when little memories pop up. Do you think you and Lance might be ready to open your hearts up to a new addition? It really does help.

feelbetter.gif I got big tears in my eyes reading this post. I can't believe it has been a year already. Maggie was one that we (I say we, because I feel like you all and your dogs are part of my extended family) lost last year that especially broke my heart. She was so beautiful Machelle. I know how the waves of grief can still come up from time to time even though they do get better over time. I hope you and Lance can find another IG to love again. I am sure she is watching over you both too.
