Another year has passed....today marks the 4th anniversary....

Never Warm What You Have Done

morning sun will rise to bring
warmth and stirring, birds to sing
paws and belly, sweet soft face
full color spectrum takes its place
I sing the tune, I coochie-cooo
soon “the whole world smiles with you”

You wiggle, smile
You jump and prance
and we’re so happy
at the first glance

now You’re gone
and my whole day
turns vibrant color
dull and grey

an empty heart
resounding ache
choking gasps
left in your wake

a daily warmth
tries to break through
the shadows cast
they look for you

those tiny pinstripes
of patchy sun
can never warm
what you have done

This passion began with my first IG, Tara, who is waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge. I love anything that involves IGs; spending time with Allie and Riley, attending East Coast IG Rescue events, SHOPPING for Allie's and Riley's wardrobes, and of course, communicating with other IG Whispers members. Aside from IGs, my interests include reading a variety of genres and being with friends and family, especially my 13 year old niece, Ella. Professionally, I am a reading specialist for first and second grades. Although I enjoy teaching, the best thing about my job is the long summer vacation, during which I am free to spend endless hours with Allie and Riley.

I'm so sorry, Fonda. The hole never goes away, does it? My thoughts are with you and Fig today.

I was thinking about Fig as I walked the girls earlier today!
It's hard to believe that it's 4 years already.
I can never hear that song on the radio without thinking of you & Fig.
Rudyard Kipling's poem The Power Of The Dogs says it all I think:(

The Power of the Dog
by
Rudyard Kipling

There is sorrow enough in the natural way
From men and women to fill our day;
And when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.

Buy a pup and your money will buy
Love unflinching that cannot lie--
Perfect passsion and worship fed
By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
Nevertheless it is hardly fair
To risk your heart to a dog to tear.

When the fourteen years which Nature permits
Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits,
And the vet's unspoken prescription runs
To lethal chambers or loaded guns,
Then you will find--it's your own affair--
But ... you've given your heart to a dog to tear.

When the body that lived at your single will,
With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!)
When the spirit that answered your every mood
Is gone--wherever it goes--for good,
You will discover how much you care,
And will give your heart to a dog to tear.

We've sorrow enough in the natural way,
When it comes to burying Christian clay.
Our loves are not given, but only lent,
At compound interest of cent per cent.
Though it is not always the case, I believe,
That the longer we've kept 'em, the more do we grieve:
For, when debts are payable, right or wrong,
A short-term loan is as bad as a long--
So why in--Heaven (before we are there)
Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?

Thank you for all of your warm thoughts everyone. I feel as though I should be able to "move on" by now, but my heart really aches and I feel Fig's loss just as strongly today.

Evea, thanks for posting those photos of your girls wearing Fig's jewelry! It makes me happy to know you have them.
