Emily was adopted Saturday. The family called tonight and said Emily cries loudly and really misses us. She was worried that Emily was missing us too much. At first we thought that Huong was trying to tell us that they wanted to return Emily. Huong cleared that up quickly. She said, "Oh no! We love her too much."

She went on to tell us that she slept on the floor in her closet with Emily last night so that her husband could get some sleep. And tonight she was happy that Emily was finally starting to calm down and was asleep in her lap. It was good to hear Huong go on about how relieved she is tonight that Emily was letting her pet her head and neck and fell asleep on her lap.

We sent her the "Emily's Story" video and told her that she will probably feel encouraged after she watches it. I am sure Emily will come to love Huong and Scott as much as they love her. It is such a good sign that the new family is staying in touch. Emily is a very lucky girl and although it is sad she is having a rough transition, we all know she is a survivor and she will soon thrive again.

I'm looking forward to a very happy update in the near future!

It is hard to think of her having to go through the transition period, but a woman who sleeps in the closet with the dog to comfort her is my kinda gal. I am sure Emily will come around soon. Please keep us posted as you hear more. Emily's story really touched me, and many others I am sure.

  • Interests:My main interest is loving and caring for my 2 IG girls, Allie and Riley, as well as my cat, Sabrina. I adore all animals, but I have a passion for IGs. This passion began with my first IG, Tara, who is waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge. I love anything that involves IGs; spending time with Allie and Riley, attending East Coast IG Rescue events, SHOPPING for Allie's and Riley's wardrobes, and of course, communicating with other IG Whispers members. Aside from IGs, my interests include reading a variety of genres and being with friends and family, especially my 13 year old niece, Ella. Professionally, I am a reading specialist for first and second grades. Although I enjoy teaching, the best thing about my job is the long summer vacation, during which I am free to spend endless hours with Allie and Riley.

Oh that poor baby...I was concerned that she might miss you fiercely when I watched the video and saw how happy she became in your care. I am glad that her new mom slept in the closet with her. I'd have done the same thing. I hope she transitions quickly and learns to love her new family. Let's hope this is the last transition little Emily has to make.

I'm sure she misses you terribly. After seeing the lovely video you made, I can see why. On the other hand.....It sounds like she found a loving family who are trying to make her new home as stress free as possible. Gotta love the sleeping with her in the closet! Glad they are keeping in touch with you. Please keep us posted.
