Ch. Donmar's Bonny Bon Vivant

January 6, 1996 February 10, 2010

This is Bonny recently with her best friend, 13 yr old Tyler.

Bonny was the first IG I ever got to know. She moved up to Canada from Texas with my partner, Brenda, in early 1998. She started showing with a bang in Canada under Mildred Bryant and got a Group 3. We were tickled! Bonny used to poop on my side of the bed every night. I would step in it, every night. Brenda just couldn't figure out why, since I knew it was going to be there! LOL Bonny ended up being a very well housebroken dog. Even at the end, she never missed the pee pad.

Bonny was diagnosed with epilepsy just around her third birthday. We had her spayed and she has been a wonderful pet ever since. She only had about one seizure a year, so she was never on medication. Since this past summer, Bonny's seizures increased in length and frequency. However, it was still only about once a month. Yesterday, Bonny started to seize in the morning. She was foaming at the mouth which I had never seen before. When she came out of it (after an hour) she could not see nor stand. She went to sleep and we put her in her crate for a nap while we let everyone else out. I went to check on her about an hour later and she was seizing again in her crate. This time, she never really came out of it. When the jerks stopped, she was wailing. She cried so hard I just didn't know what to do for her. She had no idea where she was or who I was. At that point, I think her brain had had enough. We are down to one car so I had to wait for Bren to get home from work. I carried Bonny and rocked her for over an hour while I waited. As soon as Bren arrived, we were off to the vet. Bonny left us at about 7 pm and she looked so peaceful. We will miss her terribly.

Everyone who came to our house fell in love with Bonny. She would go to anyone, sit on their lap and expect them to accommodate her. <g> She had a wonderful time in Buffalo hanging out in the lobby with our friends.

Sleep softly our Bonny Belle.

Trish

  • Interests:My main interest is loving and caring for my 2 IG girls, Allie and Riley, as well as my cat, Sabrina. I adore all animals, but I have a passion for IGs. This passion began with my first IG, Tara, who is waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge. I love anything that involves IGs; spending time with Allie and Riley, attending East Coast IG Rescue events, SHOPPING for Allie's and Riley's wardrobes, and of course, communicating with other IG Whispers members. Aside from IGs, my interests include reading a variety of genres and being with friends and family, especially my 13 year old niece, Ella. Professionally, I am a reading specialist for first and second grades. Although I enjoy teaching, the best thing about my job is the long summer vacation, during which I am free to spend endless hours with Allie and Riley.

Trish, I am sorry for your loss, Bonnie sounds like a wonderful girl and I am sure was very loved and will be quite missed. I hope soon you and Brenda will be able to share happy memories of your girl with joy, and a lessening of the pain of loss.
