Lots happened really quickly here. I offered to be a foster home and a week later here I am with....drumroll....
The Minesotta Twins! No they aren't twins or even related , we think, but they are from Minesotta.
They were given up by a family who drove them to Arizona so they could get into rescue in a warmer climate, and while that was nice the home situation was'nt the best.
They are now laying on the couch wrapped around each other like an Iggy pretzel.
They need baths and some dental care, the girl needs to be spayed too. We'll be taking care of that in the next few weeks....wish us luck as a foster family!

You & Gerry are going to be the best foster parents!  It was meant to be.  Sheyenne & Dillinger are 2 lucky pups.

This passion began with my first IG, Tara, who is waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge. I love anything that involves IGs; spending time with Allie and Riley, attending East Coast IG Rescue events, SHOPPING for Allie's and Riley's wardrobes, and of course, communicating with other IG Whispers members. Aside from IGs, my interests include reading a variety of genres and being with friends and family, especially my 13 year old niece, Ella. Professionally, I am a reading specialist for first and second grades. Although I enjoy teaching, the best thing about my job is the long summer vacation, during which I am free to spend endless hours with Allie and Riley.

Oh my goodness, Cecilia...I couldn't be happier for you or those two gorgeous pups! I have thought a lot about you recently without an IG in your home and it broke my heart. I wish you failure in this endeavor...foster failure, that is. ;)

The first night went really well. Here's the report card ( below) I sent the rescue rep. Oh to tell you who is who in the picture , Dillinger is the boy ( with the blue collar) and Sheyenne is the girl in pink, of course.

We had a very good first night.
They both behaved very well at our dinner time, they sat quietly at a distance and watched. I have to make sure Gerry doesn't mess with that behavior ( my Razzo's nose was always in Gerry's plate).
They don't seem to know what toys are and not too sure they know their names. They both seem to react to Dillinger. Don't know if they know any other words or commands. They know the word " no" but don't react much to "good girl or boy". I'll try them one on one to see more as we go along. Dillinger tried to mark once or twice but stopped immediately with a simple "no."
For the first night ( and because they hadn't gotten theirs baths yet) I left them in the kitchen with lots of blankets and beds. Dillinger cried a bit and I think he scratched at the door/ gate once or twice but very tentatively. Then they settled down and I didn't hear a peep all night. I was prepared for a mess in the morning (7:30) but I was greeted by them both, cuddled up in the bed, and a very clean kitchen! They went right outside and pee'd. I'm waiting a bit to feed them breakfast ( maybe 8:30-9:00). They zoomed around for a few minutes and are now passed out by my side as I write this. They both are scratching themselves like crazy ( Sheyenne more than Dillinger) and the poor pups are obviously sore and red in spots that hard surfaces or cage bars would rub. Their remaining teeth ( mostly in the front for both of them ) stick out at odd angles, they had a very tough time with their kibble, I hated to add any of it to the new stuff. If they can eat plain kibble at all, Taste of the Wild is at least smaller....I had to wet the kibble down ( and I added some mashed sweet potato ) and then they were able to eat it. I hope we get some poo after breakfast ( no bowel movements except the one we witnessed ☺️ yesterday).
They are both loving and curious. Not in the least skittish. They both like Gerry ( no "men" issues there).
They are interested to know where I am, but so far not to the point of Velcro following. Neither minds being picked up and outside of Sheyenne snapping at Dillinger once for bothering her no aggressive behavior at all.
Well it's breakfast time! I'll let you know more as we discover their personalitiesimage.jpg

They seem like such a sweet pair! CONGRATS on the fostering! I think they'll do really well in your care :) I'm interested to hear how they change once they're settled in a bit more :)

Thanks everyone for the lovely compliments of our fostering adventure.
I told some friends that these two are "the hook" that they'll make me think fostering is easy and then the next one will be a total terror.
The first day was great, they each got a bath and did wonderfully. Then I walked them separately to see how they are on a leash.
Dilly ( Dillinger ) is perfect! Walks by your side, not afraid of passing cars etc. Shy (Sheyenne) is not as good, pulls a little and very skittish when a car went by...but still better than I thought they'd be. I haven't past another dog yet, that will be interesting.
But what sweet loving pups. Shy and Dilly both give hugs, and already have a favorite spot on the big chair next to me....on a sad note I never realized how big my boy Razzo was, these two little guys take up the same amount of room as he alone did.
Trying to figure out what they know has been tough. Tried every version of "out, walk, treat cookie etc and no reaction. Well they are going to learn some important words in this house, like " good girl and boy, treat, walk" etc.

You asked for updates, well here you go!

They had a great first weekend. They are super sweet, play nicely together, and are fairly low-key.

Dilly almost played with a toy...I can see him learning about them soon.

We went out for a few hours today (left them in the kitchen with toys and beds) they did very well on their own.

Came home to them very happy to see us but not anxious.

They are already doing well on the premium food...their breath smells much better and bowel movements are much better too.

Shy knows how to sit, Dilly not yet. They are both doing very well with their potty habits and I expect them to know the words good boy and girl really soon...they get a treat after each outing so hopefully all this reinforcing will cement their good behavior.

I can't imagine these guys not getting snapped up as soon as they are ready to be adopted.

The first pic is sweet Dilly on his own.
