  • Interests:My main interest is loving and caring for my 2 IG girls, Allie and Riley, as well as my cat, Sabrina. I adore all animals, but I have a passion for IGs. This passion began with my first IG, Tara, who is waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge. I love anything that involves IGs; spending time with Allie and Riley, attending East Coast IG Rescue events, SHOPPING for Allie's and Riley's wardrobes, and of course, communicating with other IG Whispers members. Aside from IGs, my interests include reading a variety of genres and being with friends and family, especially my 13 year old niece, Ella. Professionally, I am a reading specialist for first and second grades. Although I enjoy teaching, the best thing about my job is the long summer vacation, during which I am free to spend endless hours with Allie and Riley.

i have always wanted to help out with IG rescue and I got my opportunity last weekend. IG Rescue New England was looking for someone from RI to do a home visit because most of their rescue reps live in Massachusetts and over an hour's drive from RI. I offered to do it and after some discussion, they accepted my help. I was so excited! The couple that I visited actually had an IG in the past, but it was not from rescue. They seem like an amazing IG loving family and well equipped to handle the potential issues that may arise. I was at their house for over an hour and we had a really great interview. When I wrote up my report for the rescue rep, she said I was very insightful. I told her that I may not know everything, but I know my IGs...Tara, Allie and Riley have taught me well! I hope I can do more visits in the future.

Deb, I always enjoyed home visits. Gives a chance to see if the application matches the reality. For new to piggy people it's a great way to get some reality info to them one on one.

The home visits are so important .People can say anything in a letter or phone call. But you really get a feel for them and the living situation with a home visit. Deb W knew me from forums and several long phone calls. But she still did a home visit when it was time to adopt.

I love being able to do home visits! We all know how I failed at fostering, so the hubby won't let me foster anymore. The home visits allow me to be involved in rescue. I've also done one intake into rescue. That was very emotional, but I felt good knowing the family was doing the right thing for the dog. That dog, Roo, just spent the weekend with us while his foster family was out of town. You are the perfect person for the job!
