This is something that I obviously wrote for my precious BooBooKitty, but it is a fitting piece for so many people here who had been or are caring for a sweet angel while knowing their time is limited.  This is about how you feel when the loss finally comes.

To know where you are....

[Fonda Nichols - June 2014]

I live to be there for you

to know what you need

to know where you are

you're the air that I breathe

yes, I know you will leave me

the day will soon come

when you no longer need me

I will wake up alone

I remember your joy as you pranced through the gate

now I'm lost

and I'm cold

and you've gone away

My life was to care for you

to know what you need

to know where you are

now I look for you constantly

Pouring rain hides the tears

when the sky is so grey

I'm so lost

I'm so cold

since you've gone away

Oh Fonda.  You just had to make me cry.

The waking up alone part is so true.  I have multiple dogs,  but when you lose one it is so hard.  Every dog has a place in that bed.  Who cares if you are comfy (as long as they are). wink.png  I've gone from 5, 4, 3 since you guys have known me.  I miss everyone of them & the ones before.

Thanks for sharing.

I just peeled an orange and I waited for Razzo to come for his piece and I cried because he's not here, and am crying now...I miss him so much.

A lovely poem, Fonda

  • Interests:My main interest is loving and caring for my 2 IG girls, Allie and Riley, as well as my cat, Sabrina. I adore all animals, but I have a passion for IGs. This passion began with my first IG, Tara, who is waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge. I love anything that involves IGs; spending time with Allie and Riley, attending East Coast IG Rescue events, SHOPPING for Allie's and Riley's wardrobes, and of course, communicating with other IG Whispers members. Aside from IGs, my interests include reading a variety of genres and being with friends and family, especially my 13 year old niece, Ella. Professionally, I am a reading specialist for first and second grades. Although I enjoy teaching, the best thing about my job is the long summer vacation, during which I am free to spend endless hours with Allie and Riley.

Thank you so much for sharing that, Fonda. It gave me a good cry as I thought of Tara and even the fleeting lives of Allie and Riley. A beautiful poem....

Beautiful poem. We'll we've lost BooBooKitty, Razzo, Lulu and PJ in the last months. Also, my other two friends lost Daphne and Addy. Many IG's have gone on to the Rainbow Bridge. We love them all!!!!
