 Lulu passed away...

She was playing with her ball when she went. I'm taking comfort in the fact that her last moments were happy and fun-filled.

She has a memorial in the yard where we have planted a tree in her memory her ball and her favorite rope toy are set under the tree soon I will have a decorative memorial rock placed under the tree too.

Katie, I can't believe I'm reading this.  Was Lulu ill?  My heart goes out to you and your family.  All the memories of loosing Gracie so quickly have come rushing back.  As I sit here and cry for you and your loss, Please remember we are here for you.  My IGW family is how I got through the ruff days.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.  Run free Lulu at the Rainbow Bridge and Gracie will be there to play with you dear girl.

OH NOOOO!!!

I am in complete and utter shock!!  I can't believe she is gone just like that.

My thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.  Perhaps the thought that Lulu was enjoying herself when she passed will bring you comfort.

I am so sorry.

This passion began with my first IG, Tara, who is waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge. I love anything that involves IGs; spending time with Allie and Riley, attending East Coast IG Rescue events, SHOPPING for Allie's and Riley's wardrobes, and of course, communicating with other IG Whispers members. Aside from IGs, my interests include reading a variety of genres and being with friends and family, especially my 13 year old niece, Ella. Professionally, I am a reading specialist for first and second grades. Although I enjoy teaching, the best thing about my job is the long summer vacation, during which I am free to spend endless hours with Allie and Riley.

Sorry it took so long to respond. I have a lot going on with spring and drier weather. From what I can gather it must have been a brain tumor/cyst. A couple days before I noticed her eyes were bulgy, I took a pic and sent it to my mom, she agreed her eyes were not normal. So we made plans to get her the vet, she didn't make it to the appt. One minute she was here playing and the next she was on the ground violently shaking (I'm guessing seizure) then she was gone. My mom was talking about it at work, a co-worker of hers was dog sitting when a similar event happened with the dog, the vet said a bursted brain cyst. Lulu aged quite a bit and had some big behavior changes over the last year and half, I presumed it was all stress, the timing for everything (and her history) was perfect for stress to be blamed. But in light of this. I wonder. Or maybe all of this could be blamed on the stress. Who knows.

Thank you for all the kind words, it helps. Losing Lulu has been real tough.

Oh my  I think you finally have your answers . I so remember  all the help you tried to get for her and her behaviour problems.I bet it was this all along. Poor little girl. I so wish that they could tell us what is wrong or how it feels sometimes. I don't imagine that you would have been able to do anything even if you had known, but it would have made life easier by knowing. Rest in peace sweet girl.

*hugs* The brain cyst sounds like a very likely scenario, and would help explain some of the behavior changes above and beyond the normal stress dogs face with a lot of the changes that had happened to her. But I think the best thing to remember is that she got to spend her last days with the family that loved her the most, and for any dog, that's crucial. Wishing you comfort and healing while you continue to work through this time. Lulu's and your story were close to my heart, and I still find it so hard to believe she is gone. :(

I was so shocked to hear about Lulu's passing, but I was happy that she had made it into a forever home at the end.  The brain cyst (or something like it)  explains a lot of things concerning her history and behavior.

I am glad it was a swift passing.
