5/15/01-3/27/13 This will be our first Christmas without you since you came into our lives. I still miss you dearly. I miss the whole body wag when I come home from work or the store. I miss your sweet face and the smell of your ears and feet. You were my sweetie.

This is always a rough time of year when we miss those close to our hearts. I wouldn't be surpised if Neba is watching over you and sending all the loves she can muster.

Thanks. I know she is watching over me and has been telling me that I am ready for another IG to love. My husband just doesn't agree about getting another dog but I'm trying!

This passion began with my first IG, Tara, who is waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge. I love anything that involves IGs; spending time with Allie and Riley, attending East Coast IG Rescue events, SHOPPING for Allie's and Riley's wardrobes, and of course, communicating with other IG Whispers members. Aside from IGs, my interests include reading a variety of genres and being with friends and family, especially my 13 year old niece, Ella. Professionally, I am a reading specialist for first and second grades. Although I enjoy teaching, the best thing about my job is the long summer vacation, during which I am free to spend endless hours with Allie and Riley.

I'm so sorry you are missing Neba so much. Certain times of the year are really hard when you are missing loved ones. I still have a really hard time on the anniversary of my Tara's death and on her birthday. It has been over six years since she left me, but she still lives in my heart. I agree with you that getting another dog would be a good step forward. It will never replace Neba, but it will give you something positive to help heal your heart. That's what Allie did for me. Bless you.

You and Neba were blessed to have each other. BooBooKitty could never replace my Fig, but she has managed to wiggle in so deep and I am going to be crushed when she is gone.

Thank you everyone. I do have my Lab/ Mastiff but he just isn't the same as Neba. He's not really, well, he's just not the same as Neba. I want another bed warmer and Tiger just doesn't do that as he doesn't get on the bed. Josie the rat terrier mix gets under the covers but I love "searching" for the little pointy nose that Neba had.

Yes, they certainly do live on in our hearts. Even our vet misses Neba. I am looking for another one but can't get one until late March or in April sometime. I still have to talk "Dad" into it, though, as he has said "No more dogs after the ones we have now are gone".

I know that feeling....and then I see all the IGs in rescue that need a loving home....and I know that it is my duty to open my home and my heart.

I am sorry for your suffering . Perhaps your husband does not fully realize just how very important having an Iggy is to you? Perhaps tell him that what you want most for Christmas is his blessing to go ahead with finding another I.G.

Well, a little over a month ago we did adopt from a shelter but he isn't an IG.  He's a Min Pin and I swear he's Neba reincarnated! He does some of the things Neba used to do.  Even her sweater fits him!  He is a cuddle bug and he has wormed his way into "dad's" heart.  I just had him chipped today as he is a quick little boy and I'm afraid of him sneaking out the front door.  BTW, his name is Charlie.

Well, today we have bad news.  Neba's larger brother Tiger (the lab mastiff) went to the rainbow bridge today.  He had stopped eating, extremely enemic, very high WBC, very low something else.  The vet thinks that he might have had a tumor in his abdomen.  I was there with him at the end and he was brave right up to the end.  I donated his body to Iowa State University Veterinary Program and I think our vet is going to request a report as to what they find out.  Tiger never knew a stranger and I think he would have been glad to help veterinary students.

I'm so sorry to hear about a Tiger! He is with Neba now. And I think that was very generous to donate his body to science.

So sorry to hear about your Tiger. He sounds like the most delightful friend! I am sure he will anxiously be awaiting you at the bridge.
