It saddens me to tell you all that our beloved old minpin boy "Ricky" passed away this morning at 7:30. Posted Image He would have had his 17th Birthday on May 17th (his golden one). Unfortunately age caught up with him. We thought he might pass before I had to be to work at 5:30, instead he passed with his daddy holding him at 7:30. One of my co-workers was nice enough to come in to work for me so I could come home. I didn't sleep at all last night. Mike has been laid up after shoulder surgery from an injury he got at work. I had to come home & bury our boy. It has been a rough one. Many of you may know Ricky's story, but I will share with you all. We got him from rescue when he was turned over by a woman who had him for 10 years. Posted ImageShe had a 2yr old & was pregnant again. She said he bit at the 2yr old when the kid was messing with his food bowl. Posted Image 1st off....teach your kid to respect the dog. I tested him numerous times & he never even made an effort to get pissy. Oh well, it was our gain. He was such a good boy. We were blessed to have him for almost 7 years. We will miss him so much. We love you Ricky. Rest in peace handsome. xoxoAttached File  2006 004.jpg   66.29KB   0 downloads Attached File  June 2012 002.JPG   50.33KB   0 downloads

  • Interests:My main interest is loving and caring for my 2 IG girls, Allie and Riley, as well as my cat, Sabrina. I adore all animals, but I have a passion for IGs. This passion began with my first IG, Tara, who is waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge. I love anything that involves IGs; spending time with Allie and Riley, attending East Coast IG Rescue events, SHOPPING for Allie's and Riley's wardrobes, and of course, communicating with other IG Whispers members. Aside from IGs, my interests include reading a variety of genres and being with friends and family, especially my 13 year old niece, Ella. Professionally, I am a reading specialist for first and second grades. Although I enjoy teaching, the best thing about my job is the long summer vacation, during which I am free to spend endless hours with Allie and Riley.

OMG I am terribly sorry to hear of your loss, Karen. You and Mike are angels for taking Ricky into your home and caring for him so well. I wish I could take away your pain, but I know all too well that one must go through the pain. Run free, little Ricky...

I'm sorry to read about Ricky. He looks like such a sweet boy. He was very lucky to be with you those last 7 years. It's awesome he had such a long life to enjoy here on earth with us. It's never easy to lose anyone you love no matter what. Hugs to you.

Thank you all. Yes, he did have a good life & he definitely enriched ours. He was a Daddy's boy, so it has been real hard on Mike. I told Ricky that when he passed, the woman who rescued him (her name was Cherry) would be waiting for him. She died from a terrible accident about a year ago. She really wanted to be a foster failure with him, but she already had too many dogs. She loved him. Now they are together again. Rest in peace sweet Ricky & Cherry. I'm so sorry, Karen. I love that last picture. It is so hard to say goodbye. I'm sure Ricky and Cherry had a wonderful reunion at the Bridge. You gave him the best 7 years of his life.

I know how much you loved your Ricky, Karen. I wish I could take the pain away. I know how bad it hurts to lose a pet. Ricky was a special little man (and beautiful too I might add). I can't imagine having a dog for 10 years and then give him up like that. But like you said, your gain, and I am glad you found eachother. Tell Mike I am sorry for the loss of "his boy", I am sure it was hard on him as well, being in physical pain and now emotional. HUGE HUGS TO YOU GUYS!!! How are the other dogs taking it??
