My heart is shattered, and I still can't write this without tears streaming down my face. A week ago I burried Faith, my Italian Greyhound. I have had many dogs over the years, but never another that I shared such a bond with, she was such a part of my heart and by my side every day of her life. I raised her from birth, spent hours caring for her through her recovery when she was paralized with a broken neck at 8 weeks old, and she has been a constant part of my life every single day since then. Always by my side, from room to room every day, sleeping under the covers against me every night, she decided she hated Richard when he took me to the hospital for the birth of my first baby, and she was ever so estatic when I returned a few days later!

She was too young, this was too soon, she was only 6 ... she should have grown up with Hope, and I shouldn't have been here for another 10 years, when she was old and grey ... and been ready for it. It was just an accident with bad timing. Hope didn't know, it's not her fault, but she let Faith out the door when she shouldn't have, and she was killed by a passing car on the highway within the 3-5 minutes before I realized she was not in the house. We usually always keep the gates closed, and she never leaves the yard, but the fall leaves being kicked up by passing cars must have looked so irresistibly fun ...

Faith was my little miracle, the pup that never should have survived, the life I fought against all odds to save that returned every bit of that love and devotion tenfold. She was my lovable neurotic little dog, with seperation anxiety, quirky upright ears, and a repertoire of habbits that seemed designed specifically to annoy Richard. Posted Image I miss her more than words can describe. I can't stop myself from looking for her so many times every day, checking for her in the bed at night, and catching myself expecting her in all of her usual places... A piece of my heart is crushed every time I realize, again, that she is gone. I feel so empty.

Oh Laura, I am so, so sorry. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the title of this post. :( Sweet Faith has been such miracle baby. She lived six years longer than anyone would have predicted, and her story has been such an inspiration to others. I pray you and your family will be comforted soon. She was an amazing girl. Big hugs to you all. :(

Laura,

My heart aches for you. Please remember, the 6 years she had with you are 6 years she would likely not had were she born elsewhere. Faith was loved and adored that is what all dogs want and need.

This passion began with my first IG, Tara, who is waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge. I love anything that involves IGs; spending time with Allie and Riley, attending East Coast IG Rescue events, SHOPPING for Allie's and Riley's wardrobes, and of course, communicating with other IG Whispers members. Aside from IGs, my interests include reading a variety of genres and being with friends and family, especially my 13 year old niece, Ella. Professionally, I am a reading specialist for first and second grades. Although I enjoy teaching, the best thing about my job is the long summer vacation, during which I am free to spend endless hours with Allie and Riley.

Laura,

Like Jaime, Faith's story is what led me to IGW. I was amazed at this incredible & beautiful little angel. There are no words for the sadness that I feel for you & your family. Everyone that read the story & knew Faith loved her & always will. When I saw this on Facebook, I ran to the living room, picked up Remy, & cried as I hugged him tight. We send you our thoughts, prayers & love to help heal your hearts. Posted Image

Oh Laura,

I can't believe I nearly missed this post....my heart goes out to you!!!

Faith's story has been such an inspiration to all of us and I believe I can speak for all of us when I say that you are an angel for having so much "faith" and patience....and belief in that sweet little creature, Faith.

There is nothing I can say to make things better for you. I too, lost my Fig at 6 1/2 years old and it wrecked my heart and soul. 6 years is way too short of a life for such a jewel as Faith, but 6 years is what you and Faith were given and it was a wonderful 6 years.

May loving memories bring you comfort during this difficult time.
