today I lost my first IG due to the side effects of a complicated battle with gastro-intestinal cancer (or not. who knows). It was 02/21/2007....about 11:20am when she was gone from my life forever.

My sweet girl, Fig. The little bitch that taught me patience and tolerance and communication and imperfect love. I was her consistant reason for being....her understanding that things will be ok if you just take them on your own terms when you are ready. She taught me so much while she was here and left me with so many questions and doubts when she left.

I still love my little bitchy angel.

Boo and I have spent the evening together cuddling. Naturally Boo is more interested in any food stuffs available....but she has been super sweet tonight whereas she is normally pestering me one way or another. I love my darling BooBooKitty.

  • Interests:My main interest is loving and caring for my 2 IG girls, Allie and Riley, as well as my cat, Sabrina. I adore all animals, but I have a passion for IGs. This passion began with my first IG, Tara, who is waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge. I love anything that involves IGs; spending time with Allie and Riley, attending East Coast IG Rescue events, SHOPPING for Allie's and Riley's wardrobes, and of course, communicating with other IG Whispers members. Aside from IGs, my interests include reading a variety of genres and being with friends and family, especially my 13 year old niece, Ella. Professionally, I am a reading specialist for first and second grades. Although I enjoy teaching, the best thing about my job is the long summer vacation, during which I am free to spend endless hours with Allie and Riley.

Oh Fonda, I am so sorry. I know how hard these anniversaries are. You and Fig and Boo are in my prayers today. I hope Fig is cuddling with Tara at the Bridge, just waiting for us to join them. One day we will.

Fonda, what a beautiful portrait of Fig. May you have peace in your heart as you observe this anniversary.

Your words about what she taught you really hit my heart. I would not be the person I am today without the dogs that have been in my life. Each one has taught me so much about life and allowed me to understand things I would not have, had they not been in my life.

I remember when I first saw Gwen's portrait of Fig....what a beauty. I was just telling a friend today that even though Star passed in 2005, at the age of almost 15, I still think of her often and miss her. What an effect this breed has on our lives........ (((hugs)))

Fonda, it so hard on the anniversaries. You relive it again. I can't believe it has been 5 years since we all followed your struggles with Fig's cancer.

Thank you everyone who was there with me during that very trying time of my life and THANK YOU for everyone who is here with me today.

Fig's diagnosis, treatment and death was extremely difficult for me....Let us not forget that if it were not for Fig leaving such a big hole in my heart and the support and encouragement from all of my IG friends, we would not have BooBooKitty in our lives....and THAT story was an amazing one!

thank you once again for all of your friendship.

It's hard to believe it's been 5 years since Fig's departure. Such a beauty and what a battle she put up. They never leave us, not really. They do open our hearts, thank goodness. Good thoughts for you and Boo.

It has been 7 years today and still hurts so deeply. I was hoping to be working through her senior years instead of remembering how much I loved her.

I remember well your pain and heartache with the loss of Fig.I hope that it has day to day lessened some. And I remember when Boo came along. And her helping you begin to heal. These babies have such a profound influence on us.I have had a lot of breeds. And loved them all .But I have to admit none of them have have had the kind of impact on my life that these babies do. Hugs to you and Boo.

Gwen's painting of Fig is like the Mona Lisa ( or any iconic work of art) to me.
I can see it in my mind's eye and feel the love you had for Fig through it.
I am sad that you are marking this anniversary instead of birthdays.

Gwen refers to the painting of Fig as her Mona Lisa. I was flattered that she paint it for me after not painting for so long. She also said that it got her back into "the ring".....as you may know, Gwen has been painting some of the most amazing pieces over the years.
