The lock just needed a wee adjustment and Maddie was hit.

This is an example of a CRUCIAL "A"! Maddie was A hit! :D

Quick update: Mom, Dad, and Maddie are in North Carolina. They have her harnessed and with a leash on her when she sleeps in bed with them, because the bed is very high and they're worried she'll wander down to the end of the bed and fall off (she started out in her own bed the first night but very definitely wants to be with them). Mom knit her a sweater before they left Florida, but Mads is so LONG that it's like a crop top on her. XD They've tried one of Tessa's sweaters and a little jacket I bought Tessa, but they're too big around still. So, Mom said she's knitting another sweater for her.

So far they've had Maddie down to the neighbor's house, to a friend's house, to our favorite bookstore, to--they may have said the Farmer's Market, to a couple other stores....She's been a huge hit everywhere she's gone, with people wanting to pet, talk to, and cuddle her. They said she's taken it all calmly and has graciously allowed people to lavish their affection upon her. True IG through and through; I remember when, years ago, Dad and I drove through New Orleans and took Monti (our family's first IG; he was the only one we saw or heard of for YEARS) on a leash into the French Quarter. Tourists were leaving the shops to come out and look at him. He just trotted calmly along with his head held high and submitted to their scrutiny with great grace. All four of our babies have been wonderful ambassadors for their breed.

The biggest problem, as I see it, is that Mom says Dad is already starting in on giving Maddie people food. He just won't listen.... :sigh:

Anyway, she'll get internet service via the bookstore every few days, but I just wanted to post an update! smile.gif

  • Interests:My main interest is loving and caring for my 2 IG girls, Allie and Riley, as well as my cat, Sabrina. I adore all animals, but I have a passion for IGs. This passion began with my first IG, Tara, who is waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge. I love anything that involves IGs; spending time with Allie and Riley, attending East Coast IG Rescue events, SHOPPING for Allie's and Riley's wardrobes, and of course, communicating with other IG Whispers members. Aside from IGs, my interests include reading a variety of genres and being with friends and family, especially my 13 year old niece, Ella. Professionally, I am a reading specialist for first and second grades. Although I enjoy teaching, the best thing about my job is the long summer vacation, during which I am free to spend endless hours with Allie and Riley.

Thanks for the update, Wendy. I think it's so wonderful that Maddie is getting so well-socialized.

Hey ya'll,
We're here in NC. Twas 39 degrees Tuesday night. Now it is in the high 60's or low 70's. The fall colors are coming to the forefront and should peak by next weekend. We hope to visit my cousins, aunt and uncle in Durham next weekend....if we ever hear back from them.....We left a message on David's voicemail but he has not called back. We know we will be going to my hubby's brother's home. So our Mad Dog gets to meet some more adults and some kiddies.....baby and preschooler. .. should be interesting.
Maddie sleeps with us in a HIGH bed ....with a harness and a 5' leash attached to her. The loop of the leash is over the "ball" post of the headboard and then I sleep on the leash to hold it in position and "short." That way Maddie can cuddle Daddy and wander a bit without getting into trouble. She is doing very well at awakening me at night to let me know she is ready to potty. She has had several "accidents" on the rug (and once at our friend's house....Oh MADDIE!!! :-( ). But over all she is doing very well pottywise.
She is getting very close to the hubby. Today we took the trash to the dump place and when he left the car, Maddie looked around and whimpered for him. She is getting very vocal....talking...not always barking.
Well I shall post more later.
Enjoy your Iggies,
SB and Maddie

Ok so now I am at Book and Beans in LS, NC.. They have wifi. Maddie went to the vet today :-) to get her third DAPP short and deworming. The doc says she is very healthy and she weighed in at 6.6 pounds. That is a 1.1 pound gain in 3 weeks.
Maddie seems to be doing well in the mountains. She went to Boone yesterday and met a brown lab pup...They socialized and played and when Maddie raised up on her rear legs and put her front paws on him, the lab scooted behind her master's legs.
